Angry Birds In Space!

Another Angry Birds game, imagine that. I am sure some of you are groaning already. I admit I was hesitant to download Rovio’s latest installment in the franchise. So any misgivings you have is warranted. Thing is they managed to add enough new features to make this well worth 99 cents.  I find myself quite addicted, just like I did with the original.  Plus I get to yell Angry Birds in space, every time I start. Shout out to the Muppets!

You’ll notice in my banner image the birds have been updated. My favorite has to be the flash gordon like blue birds.  They also added news sound effects to each bird. Although a lot of sounds are carried over from the previous games. The biggest feature to come with this version is gravity and lack of gravity. That may seem a little strange, but look closely at the photo above. Notice the haze around the pig forts? That is the gravity bubble. The rest of the area is space or zero gravity.  What this does is give you multiple options for solving each puzzle.  Like shooting underneath targets and doing awesome loops before impact.

Another thing they added was super birds or maybe helper birds is a better word.   If you notice in the top left hand corner there is a giant eye next to the pause button. I call it the black hole eagle of pig doom. There could be another name for it. Either way, it allows you to get past levels your stuck on.  Similar to the Tanooki suit in Mario 3DS. I kind of like that feature, but it does make me feel a little lame. You’ll notice I had to use one already.

So far that is the only features I have found, but it’s enough.  I mean it’s hard to complain at a 99 cent price point.  If that much money is still to steep for you there is the free version. I haven’t tried that one yet, I figured I could throw a dollar at Rovio. They did an excellent job of adding just enough new tweaks to make the game engaging, while keeping it familiar. Bottom line it’s still Angry Birds and I am quite okay with that.

99 cents is a steal for any decent quality downloadable game. I have bought games for 10-12 dollars and been fine with that price tag, so less than a buck sounds very reasonable. If the free version pops up on chrome or G+ I will have to check it out and wait till I get an iPad or iPhone to buy it.
