Gun Sage The Hermit

Well, I have a lot to answer for, so I will attempt to be as quick as possible. As some of you know, my 360 died early this year. A lot of people have asked me why I don’t just get it replaced. Well, this requires a bit of explanation. I WANT a new 360…but I don’t know when the fuck that’s going to happen. I was unemployed all last year, but I was making more than I’m making now and didn’t really have to pay for gasoline much as a result.

I was also eating in more as a result, so there’s that. I need to save up for car repairs, get Christmas presents for the kids, help my wife with her FAFSA forms, ensure I have enough for lunch money for my daughter…you get the idea. The game has changed from the ground up financially. And this could be resolved soon as I’m waiting to hear back on an IT position, but I can’t bank on that.

I really want to get a brand new console with a 250 GB HDD so I can just load everything up and have fun, but even in the event I just got another crappy used arcade console, I’d also have to renew my XBL membership, then I definitely wouldn’t have enough for new games for a while. As a result, I’ve been doing more Steam stuff lately, which is fun, but not that new or cool.

…well, okay, except this one.

So one reason I haven’t been on the show has been I simply can’t keep up anymore given my situation. The other problem, of course, is scheduling. Granted, I’m off my other shift, but now I’m on a flex and having to dedicate myself to working overtime every so often. I really wasn’t sure how to approach all this for both the Wonderpod crew and the listeners, so here’s what I want to do.

I would like to come back to the show, but understand that in the event I do, I probably won’t be talking about anything new, unless it’s super cheap on Steam, at least for a while. I plan on rebooting entirely the games I’m making. Gun Sage is an excellent idea, but the boys at RRR are right…there’s no reason to soil the idea with using generic default textures and sounds, I should be more creative and diversified.

Hobo Quest isn’t a bad idea, but there’s a lot going on, so I need to carefully rethink everything I want the game to encompass and start from the ground up rebuilding it. I still intend on writing and want to get back into the GoTY series eventually. The one final thing I’d like to talk about is Retropod. I LOVE doing Retropod with Sugar Ray Dodge. It’s a fun show and we both have a great time doing it.

SHIT YEAH.

Actually, I was worried we’d run out of things to talk about, but here’s the thing about retro: new stuff comes out all the time, but so does old stuff, because new eventually becomes old. We’ve tailored the show in a way that the term “retro” often bends to our whim. Even if it’s something new we’re talking about, we’re comparing it to old, cuz that’s how we roll BIATCH.

Honestly, I’m hoping everything works out soon. The major issue lately has been money, and of course with Christmas coming up it’s soon to get worse before it gets better. Anyway, if you haven’t added me on Steam yet, my ID should be either “gunsage” or “burnheizer.” I don’t do Team Fortress 2 as much as I used to, but I still enjoy it, and I get a kick out of a dozen or so other titles.

Again, I apologize to the Wonderpod crew and fans as well as stalkers. Hopefully I’ll make a comeback soon.

I miss Gun Sage…. and understand. If you can pull out a Retropod with SRD at anytime, that would be cool. Actually, that gives me an idea… will PM you both.

I suppose if I can get my schedule in order, I can report on various doodads with Steam, but I want to be able to keep up is the main point. I just don't feel I can do that with my current situation. Retropod is the best course of action for now.

yeah , another retropod would be sweet. Don't worry about covering too many games, you can always go back and cover them in more detail than you did in previous episodes.
