Medal Of Honor Sequel News

I was one of the few who really enjoyed the Medal of Honor reboot. I liked the fact that it didn’t have a traditional story and just dropped you into the daily chaos of a special forces solider. I admit that it wasn’t as spectacular as I had hoped. The originally WWII MOH was one of my favorite multiplayer experiences. I had a lot of good times with it on PC. So I was more willing to give the reboot a shot. Now the news just broke that there will be a sequel. That is the good news coming from CVG. There is however some bad news to go along with it.

First the name being tied to this game is Medal Of Honor: Warfighter. That has to be one of the dumbest names for a video game ever. Now according to the news story more details will be announced at GDC in March. If EA and in house studio Danger Close need proof that the name needs to be changed, Just look at my twitter time line. Even I am making fun of it and I want to play the game. Beside that there is one other thing I am nervous about.

In the last game Danger Close created the single player and DICE of Battlefield fame made the multiplayer. Apparently “fan demand” has caused EA to have Danger Close create both the single and the multiplayer. As one of the “fans” I am not sure I like this. The single player and multiplayer meshed well enough together the way it was done last time. My speculation is that DICE either didn’t want to work on the game or didn’t have time. While this change makes me nervous, I do know that Danger Close has had experince working with FPS games when they were known as EA L.A.

Dumb name and worries about developers considered, I am very interested in this game. As usual it comes down to release date. Currently they are saying its coming out in October. Last time EA being a bunch of dummies released the game close to COD Black Ops and paid heavily for it. I got the sick feeling they intend to try and battle head to head with Black Ops 2 or whatever Treyarch is releasing this year. This time around for me it will be an easy call, but I will still wait to see what other games are coming out. Anybody else interested in the sequel even if you didn’t play the first one?

I recently played MOH and it was a good FPS. I borrowed it off a friend, a very long time after its release, so that shows how much I really wanted to play it I guess. haha.
The problem is there have been so many modern military FPS in the last 3 or 4 years that it needed to be great , not good, to get lot of peoples attention. I will be paying attention to this title as it develops, but if it comes out when Halo 4 or the or the WiiU launches, it may just have the same fate as the previous MOH for me. I am also a bit concerned that DICE, a proven FPS multiplayer developer, is not going to do the MP.

Ha I forgot about the Pii U. Yeah, the publisher has done more to damage this reboots chances than they have helped it out. I am not all that interested in Halo 4 and given how all busy we all are multiplayer may not be a factor. As I said will see what crops up at GDC. the name is still dumb, I had a hard time even putting "warfighter" in the cheesy little banner. Dumb just dumb.

at least they didn't call it "Modern War fighter"

Leave it to PatMan to come up with an even worse name. Hush don't give EA any ideas. Although Black Modern War Fighter Op's might get them in trouble.
