Wonderpod Online’s Top 50 Games: 41 – 45

Hey friends, SRD here again. And once again, I’ve rounded up all our friends from Wonderpod, TCR Comix and Nintendo Legend for another round of our Top 50 Games of All Time. This week’s installment has both some classics and some deep cuts, and one particular entry that may or may not cause quite a bit of debate. So lets do it to it, shall we. This week’s victims are:

45. Pac-Man
44. Minecraft
43. Hero’s Quest: So You Want to Be a Hero?
42. Deus Ex
41. Portal

Wow, I'm the only one that said anything for Deus Ex? Y'all need to check that one out. :p

Pac Man is only behind Mario as my favorite iconic character in video games. Instantly recognizable, perhaps more so than even Mario, Pac Man was instrumental in helping create the magical arcade culture of the 80's which has now been lost. Pac Man had decent games on home consoles and handhelds as well, including Pac-Pics on the DS. However, Pac Man would have scored MUCH higher on this list ( in my top 10) , had I known that we were suddenly allowed to vote on arcade games !?!

    Put bluntly. Pac Man rules!

  3. SRD says:

Pac-Man had several many home releases, so that's why it qualified. Much like Mortal Kombat. Sorry if I was fuzzy on that point.

  4. Patman says:

No problem SRD, the list is good as it is, however if you think that Pac- Man was voted on because of the" lesser home versions" and not the iconic and legendary arcade games which it is famous for….. I may have some swamp land to sell you and Scruffy!! Just stirring the pot here ( mostly for traffic, actually) ! =0)

I have a Namco Collection disc for the PS2 that has a killer enhanced version of Pac-Man next to the classic version. I heartily recommend it. Its called "Namco Museum, Volume 1."

G, Deus Ex was one of maybe two or three games that 6 or 7 out of 9 participants put on their list, but then had NOTHING to say about it. The other big one was Portal. I thought that was kinda weird, but life goes on, y'know.

  7. SRD says:

Actually I take that back. Portal got some decent commentary, but not as much as I thought it would, especially if you compare it to other games that made it into the teens.

  8. Patman says:

Hey SRD have you played the Pac Man CE/ CE DX games yet? They are bad ass, and even developed by the original Pac-Man creator/s. Its like pac Man on speed and or acid…or… something like that. I have them on XBLA.
