The first day back on the job after an injury or an illness is always weird. You tend to think more about what your body is doing. I suppose it’s worse the longer it your recovery takes. I try very hard to put the fact I was really ill for 15 days out of my head and just go. Still not listening to your body isn’t a good idea either. I always try to strike a balance between making sure not to rush back in to work and just end up back at home again. Your going to have to pay me Rajon Rondo money before I play hurt. Never understood the guys who took pride in playing/working hurt. My personal experience tells me that it usually causes more harm than good.
I love spring time there are so many opportunities for laughing at commentators and even fans. Take for example the uproar over Andruw Bynum acting like a classless thug. I find it ironic, as most championship winning teams always have a a thug or two on the roster. In fact I firmly believe there would have been little talk of his actions, if they were the ones doing the sweeping. It would been an after thought. Still listening to the amount of bitching you would think this type of behavior is unheard of with teams like the Lakers. They obviously never watched the great Bulls and Pistons teams of the late 80’s, early 90’s. They had a thug or two on those teams. Okay so maybe the Pistons had more thugs than anything. What it comes down to is nobody cares about the details when your winning. Obviously the same can not be said for when teams are losing. Granted some of the rumblings are Lakers fans trying to find excuses for what Bynum did. Which is why I just don’t get some sports fans.
I got a buddy who is a huge sharks fan and I probably got 35 text messages during the game the other night. I am use to that, but what struck me was how angry he was getting as the Sharks started giving up goals. I just don’t have it in me to get that worked up most of the time. If it had been one or two angry texts I could understand that. Even I get a little cranky for a minute or two when bad shit happens to my team. In his case the last few message were not even written in English. They were written in some kind of fan language I just don’t understand. Again I was really calm through out the entire game and was just happy they stayed alive to play one more game. Ask audiomaster G, I am not the kind to go in fan rage. I don’t care about fans who do, in fact I find them an easy source of amusement. You still have to wonder why a guy like me, who has a temper can remain so calm. I could be lying to you all for my own amusement, there is that theory. I can tell you that is not the case, as I would never be able to keep it off the posting page. I think it’s the fact that I have a temper is the reason I keep my cool now. I played a lot of different sports as a youth and my temper was always something I had to deal with. Once coaches knew I was a hot head they stayed on me constantly, not that it always worked. I am probably the only human on the planet to be ejected from an under 12 youth soccer game. As I grew older I learned that blowing up always did more harm than good. So with a lot of help I learned to just suck it down and try to channel the rage into playing. These days between a slightly calmer temper and what I learned in my youth I just can’t find a reason to rage at teams I don’t play for. Some will tell you that I can’t be a real fan as I sit today. I can live with that, I really can.
Video games has been the blue plate special early in the week. I grabbed a steam punk RPG of GOG, called Arcanum of Steamworks & magick obscura.. Try saying that three times fast, I can’t tell you much about it as it was unknown to me before I bought it. The reviews at GOG said if you liked the early Fallout games, you would like this. All I can tell you so far is the graphics suck. Even by the standards of the day, it is not that great. I will have to play it some more to see what I think over overall. With a wallet on the empty side, it’s as good a choice as any.
