PatMan Picks His Favorite 3DS E3 Trailers, So Far

Nintendo had a very good press conference this year at E3. While I was very interested in the Wii U technology, thats all that it really is at this stage and I am not about to get as excited about the Wii U as I did with the original Wii. I don’t think I could handle the disappointment again. Untill I see some solid , real, playable games I will remain optimistic, yet cautious. The 3DS, on the other hand ,was showing off many great looking and actually real titles and in my opinion after the “newness” settled down, the 3DS stole the show away form the Wii U. One problem Nintendo is having with showcasing its 3DS titles is, of course, the inability to actually show us how the game truly looks on the new system when showing footage. Yesterday, I watched the E3 trailers for the 3DS games running in 2D and I was impressed and excited about many of them. However, it was not until I watched those trailers on my very own 3DS later that day that I was really impressed with the technology. For those of you that have not downloaded the trailers on your 3DS go do it right now and, of course, while your there download the free ExciteBike 3D and  3D Pokedex as well. The rest of you fine readers are going to have to trust me when I say that there truly is a big difference between the 2D footage we see on the internet and the actual 3D footage running on our little magical machines.  Follow me below as I post some of the E3 trailers for 3DS games that I am most interested in and say a few words about each in the process. After an almost painful wait with the 3DS, it looks like the system is poised to explode with great  titles soon.

Mario Kart 3DS. Ok, this is the BIG one for me. Mario Kart DS is what I am most looking forward to on the 3DS. You may have read my Mario Kart Review a few months back here at WPO, I know someone did because they stole it and put it up on their own blog at one point. Anyways  those that did see it know that mario Kart DS is my favorite Mario Kart of all time, so needless to say I have been waiting for this game with almost Fan-Boy like anticipation. And wow, does it look good running on my 3DS . I cant wait to give this game a go with Glasenator and whoever else picks up a 3DS in the future. Those of you that love the “snaking” technique, which eliminates all of the fun and surprise of the power ups, need not send me a friend request this time around. As for the rest of you, see you online.

Luigi’s Mansion 2. I never liked the original Luigis Mansion as much as I hoped I would. Sure it was high quality, fun and entertaining but it just seemed to JUST miss out on being a great gamecube title. Some say it was because the original game was no more than an early tech demo turned quickly into a retail title. But if thats true then Nintendos tech demos are pretty amazing stuff as the final product turned out to be pretty darn decent. Once again, some of you will have to trust me when I tell you the 3DS follow up takes full advantage of the 3D display. Im looking forward to seeing more about this games as it progresses.

If there ever was a game that deserved to be remade on the 3DS, with full 3D capabilities, its StarFox 64. Thought of by many to be the best Star Fox ever, this improved version looks great running on my 3DS, believe me. The online gameplay addition looks to be very fun and watching your fiends facial expressions as you play against them will be funny as heck. I never played a Star Fox game online before and cant wait to try it out soon!    I hope there is an option to get rid of the faces when your NOT playing with frineds, as they take up a lot og room on the screen and can be a little distracting at times.  Another great remastered classic, and I hope for news of an all new, original Star Fox 3DS sometime in the future. ” Do a Barrel roll” !

Mario 3DS. We knew this was bound to happen, but I doubt most of us predicted it to happen so soon. For Nintendo fans, the Mario 3DS trailer does not disappoint. Its the classic , timeless fun and its the addictive game play that has made Mario games the most popular video game franchise of all time. Only now it is in 3D. And believe me, Mario looks very cool running, jumping and well, being Mario in 3D. Enjoy the trailer below.

The Legend Of Zelda OoT 3D . I was on the fence about buying this game for the 3DS.  Sure, Its one of the greatest games of all time, and I loved playing it all those years ago. But it just was not something that I thought I would like on a handheld system. For me personally, hand held gaming is for shorter burst of gameplay, not long sit down sessions like those I have  enjoyed playing the great Zelda franchise. Then I watched the trailer on my 3DS. Oh My. The difference between the E3 trailer I watched on my PC and the one on my 3DS was more than enough to convince me to pick this up on the 3DS. It may not be a day one purchase for me, but I need to experience this all time classic game in this new cool way, sooner or later. If you never played this game you MUST buy it on the 3DS.

Kid Icarus Uprising. I have to admit something. I never played the original game, I know this may very well be enough to have my Nintendo fan card taken away by some of you, but its the truth. So unlike the many, and I mean MANY out there that are really excited for this 3DS title, I did not know what to expect exactly. What I saw on my 3DS was a cool looking action/ platformer that has me now VERY interested.  My question is, after I buy this game , is it too late to become a super fan like the rest of you have always been?
And there you have it, some of my favorite 3DS E3 trailers that I have had the opportunity to watch where they belong, right on my 3DS system. There will be other trailers and demos to be downloaded in the future, and I hope to return at another time if there is any interest in my doing so. I hope you enjoyed the trailers and my 2 cents, keep playing and have fun people !
