Ah Thursday, the day before the day we all care about. Wonderpod record’s tonight and if you have any questions for the crew, feel free to ask in comments. We like to hear from the audience, it makes us feel special. Although we missed a question a week or so back from a facebook user. Sorry about that SRD, we still love you man. Scruffy rules!!!!
Normally when something less than pleasant needs to be said I am the man for the job. I have never worried about saying the tough things, the honest things. There are times when it does bother me and yesterday was one of those times. Two hitchhikers were traveling along the highway I was working near. Now I say hitchhikers as they were just to well dressed and clean to be bums. About lunch time they were walking past me and stopped to rest. One of them walked over and politely asked where the next town with a gas station was. This particular highway heads into the mountains where there are few big towns. I explained to him that the nearest town with a gas station was 40 miles (64 Km). The look on his face when I told him that made me feel really bad. They were the fools hitchhiking in to the mountains in winter, there is that. I still wonder if lying to them might not of been the better option. Either way I ruined the poor lad’s day and that isn’t something I relish.
While watching the television, I saw a commercial for a very interesting web site. The commercial claimed that this site would tell you about any person searching for you, anywhere in the world. Like most of these ads, the search was free which sounds great. What they don’t tell you is, you need to pay a fee to get the results. Being a veteran of the Internet that didn’t surprise me one bit. What did surprise me was the number of people they claimed were searching for me. 31 people are looking for me and 5 of them are in California. There are several things I can take away from that result. One There are 31 one people trying to figure out where I live to kill me. That one might be a little paranoid on my part. Two that I have a lot of lost friends. Three I may have some children I wasn’t aware. If the results are true, it is a little creepy to think there are that many people looking for little old me. I figure it’s complete BS and just used as incentive to pay the fee they want.
On the podcast we have taken a fair number shots at COD black ops. I fully stand behind what we said, but there is one part of the game I do still enjoy. Combat training is basically you versus bots in a death match game. You can have your Xbox live buddies join you and not have to worry about a 12 year old screaming noob or gay at you. It’s like firefight in Halo or horde mode in Gears of War. Honestly I think every FPS game should come with some kind of mode like this. There is nothing like coming home dead on your feet from work and smacking around a few bots. It allows you to set the difficulty so you can get any kind of experience you want. There was a lot wrong with black op’s, but I thought it was smart for Treyarch to include this feature. I think all developers should do the same in the future.
