Duke Nukem Trailer Show Games Age, Yet Still Looks Good.

The latest Duke Nukem Forever trailer has hit the web a few days ago, filled with everything you would expect for a sequel to the PC classic. By everything of course I mean tits, ass, urination, cheesy one liners and insane action. Its what made Duke Nukem 3D so funny and fun to play back all those years ago, but will it still be relevant toady?  I notice 2 things about this trailer. The first is that it shows the age of the game, it literally took nearly” forever” to come out and even with a graphical update from its original form 12 years ago, it still shows sings of age compared to the Crysis and Gears Of War games out there. The second thing I noticed was its very similar in formula to Duke Nukem 3D, and for that I personally am glad. So, personally, I will take the less polished look of the game if it still has the same humor and action of the PC classic. I am cautiously optimistic about this title and hope to be enjoying it in the future but I do realize that a game delayed for all those years could end up  being a big disappointment. Its about time it came out  and started kicking ass , because everyone has been all out of gum for a long, long time .

Duke Nukem has never been about graphics so I don't know why you've even raised that point. None of the games have tried to be super realistic looking. It's about the game-play, the quirky things that you can do it, the non-PC, gratuitous humor, the over-the-top violence etc. Those are the things that made Duke Nukem appealing/fun, not the graphics.

I have to disagree a bit here. When Duke Nukem came out (and I mean the first game), the graphics were very much near highest level of expectations for that time. If you played it on drop day (ahem), that was pretty apparent. If you played it years later, you wouldn't notice that aspect.

Nonetheless Anon, while the graphics do look dated and cartoonish, that bears no reason that the game could be a fun title. I do agree with you that it isn't the main appeal for this installment of the ever-delayed-Duke Nukem. Is it any good? We'll have to wait (groan) a little longer to really find out. As a very old fan, I sincerely hope it turns out to be a great, if not excellent, game.

I did like the part of the trailer where Nukem is signing Duke's book for that kid. That was pretty funny.

Thanks for the comment Anon !
We just changed our comments plug in and it may have deleted some of our stuff from yesterday. I agree with your Idea that graphics are less important than gameplay however at this stage of FPS "evolution", everything is compared to the highest bench marks out there such as the Unreal and Crysis engines. Is that really fair? probably not. Is gameplay more important? Defiantly yes. As for Duke Nukem 3D ? I played it back when it came out and it had very good visuals, for its time ,even thought it was cartoony. Anyways i hope to be enjoying Forever when its released, but I still will remain a little cautious.
