Morning Brick

Well we have come to the first full week of Wonderpod-Online. While I wouldn’t call our first week spectacular, things appear to be falling in place. Just a little note to you hardcore fans of my morning posts. I will not be posting them on Saturday and Sunday. Instead I will thrill you with stuff from an archive of MN work I found. I have yet to make up my mind what exactly you’ll get, but I know quite a bit of it will be fiction work.

When we sat down to plan Wonderpod-Online We knew that we at the very least wanted a home for the podcast. When putting blog posts on the site was added to mix, I had two topics I felt should be taboo. One was politics and the other religion. I am pretty much sick and tired of dealing with both the left and the right in this country. They are with few exceptions, dogma drunk morons who don’t understand the word compromise. As long as that remains the case I see no sense in joining the debate. Skipping the politics writing was an easy one for me, but religion was a bit harder to pass on.

Religious debate generally ends up becoming the same us versus them mentality that most political debates do. The reason it attracts me to it slightly more, is the ironic undercurrents going on in it. I see plenty of Christians running around condemning Islam as a horrible and violent religion. Never mind the fact that most practitioners of Islam would never hurt a fly and its a small group of extremists that cause all the problems. What I find so Ironic about most of these condemnations is they attempt to paint Christianity as this friendly, non violent religion in the process. I am guessing most of these fools forgot about the crusades, the Salem witch trials, the Spanish inquisition and on and on. The funniest one of course being the Crusades, which was nothing more than and armed and violent attempt to convert followers of Islam to Christianity. I am sure I could get 4 or 5 posts just out of explaining how dumb that is and yet it’s not worth it. I would rather we stick with topics that are fun and entertaining.

I feel better having got that out of my system. Now for something completely video games. Over the years I have played a lot of RPG’s and while we don’t talk much about them on Wonderpod, I am a fan of the genre. My problem is the last one I played, Dragon Age Origins was not very good. I wouldn’t say it’s the worst ever, but it felt very stale. So today I will head out in to the wider world and see whether I can track down a copy of Elder Scrolls Oblivion. There are a couple reasons why I haven’t played it up to this point. One I was not that big a fan of Morrowind. I got rather tired of it after a while and I was afraid Oblivion would be more of the same. Once it was made clear to me that was not the case other games always got in front of it in my play list. I feel bad about it and lately I have been playing to many shooters/platformers. If I know my luck I will go to several gamestops before I find a copy. That is how I roll people

Normally I close this with a silly line I make up when I finish. Today I will leave you with an old and absurd joke. Drunk walking down the street, one foot on the curb on foot one the street. Policeman walks up and say’s you drunk? The drunk says thank god I thought I was a cripple. Wakka Wakka and possibly derp

I have this feeling we'll still get into politics and religion anyways… just without wars and stupidity. Wonderpod doesn't condone that.
