Oh boy it is an angry morning here in the McGee compound. At one time in the not to distant past I would of just exploded with rage all over the page. These days I just suck it down and write about shit that matters to no one, yet it entertains me and that is purpose of this exercise. It makes no difference if I get mad anyway. Whether through poor communication skills or just plain shitty luck I am horrible at dealing with my fellow humans. I suppose it should be more depressing than enraging, but anger has always been a good fuel for me. In fact in about an hour or so I will turn that rage against my daily work grind and get it out that way. Probably for the best, although I have be told I am entertaining when angry
Back at E3 2010 there was a short teaser at the Microsoft press conference about a new game from Crytek. If your not aware, Crytek is the fine folks that brought us Crysis and the soon to be Crysis 2. I recall the teaser trailer making me curious and excited at the time. Which is pretty rad, when you consider how jaded I can be to things of that nature. Now comes news on the project courtesy of our friends at CVG. Most of the article is just company reps hyping the the project as they tend to do. Still I have a few thoughts after shifting through the article. One, the thought of this game pushing the 360 to its limits is a little scary. Crysis by all accounts was a PC eater. One must always be concerned about RROD with older 360’s. My second thought was one of slight confusion. When I first saw the trailer I was convinced this was going to be an RPG. Which was an awesome thought, as I feel confident Crytek could pull off an amazing RPG. While they have shot down claims that this is a God of War like game, I am starting to wonder. When a developer is throwing around comments about awesome control schemes and the game may need it’s own genre, I worry. I am still going to keep my eye on this game and hope it comes out more RPG than platform brawler.
I always avoided the subject of music for the most part when writing at other sites. Much like video games the music genre is filled with jerks who want to trash whatever they don’t like as shit. For that and multitude of other reasons I just avoided discussing my musical tastes (or lack of) for the sake of ease. I intend to change that here in the coming months on Wonderpod-Online. Eventually I will sit down and write a longer introduction piece on what pisses me off about music and fans of the genre in general. There is one thing that I got shoved in my face yesterday that I am not passing on. I ran in to this asshole I went to high school with on my way to work. He plays both the drums and bass guitar. I have seen him in local bands around the area and he is a competent musician. He casually walked over and commented on the music I was listening to as I drove up to the fuel pump. The conversation was fine until he uttered the words that I loathe to hear. “Your right to a point, but you must be a musician to truly appreciate music.” Oh really you sad sack of pretentious shit? I literally told him to go fuck himself and left. I hate the fucking attitude with every fiber of my being. How pathetic do you have to be to pull that card. Let’s be clear if you love music that is enough for me. Sure some people need to just shut up as they don’t know what they are talking about at times. Thing is that sentiment applies as much to musicians as it does to “fans of music”. Hell I played drums for 6 months and trumpet for 4 back in elementary school, is that my get out elitist asshole jail free card?
There is no peace, only battling day to day.
