BWF Radio Episode 3

That’s right folks, the first trilogy is complete.

Drowgoddess couldn’t connect. The entire show got disconnected half way through. Random ads started playing in the background. JT and G were hearing double. And when he went to upload the show after edits, ThinkSoJoE had no internet. Yes folks, this episode of BWF Radio was plagued with technical difficulties straight from the start, but finally, it’s here.

GODDAMMIT…Seiken Densetsu 3

One of the few Squaresoft games that has never even attempted to be remade is also easily one of the best. Now sure, I could’ve talked about the obvious Terranigma, Mother 3, Wonder Project J, Adventures of Hourai High, or even the Front Mission games that never reached American soil, but instead I’d love to talk about good ol’ SD3. As you’ll recall from my Semi-Annoyed Videogame Nerd episode where I mentioned it, I like it quite a bit.

You Love It, I Hate It – Grand Theft Auto 4

Back in the 90s I played both the original GTA and GTA2 on my PC. They sucked. Imagine Spy Hunter, but being able to turn in all directions, the camera doesn’t adjust, the angle isn’t wide enough to see if you’re going to run into shit, there’s no mini-map, there are lives, and while there were missions, it wasn’t worth checking into them without a mini-map, compass, or any sense of direction.

PatMan Picks N64 favorites. Star Wars Rogue Squadron

As previously covered in PatMan Picks, Shadows Of the Empire was a great and overly ambitious launch title for the N64. I enjoyed it because of its amazing game play variety and its impact at that time of gaming history. But Star Wars fans had even more to enjoy in the N64’s future. The truth is Rouge Squadron was a superior title in terms of both visuals and audio and while it did not have a variety of gameplay elements, what it did have it did better than any Star Wars game before it. Not following in the footsteps of SOTE,  Rogue Squadron  focused on only one aspect of game play. It focused entirely on ship combat, and refined it considerably when compared to the ship combat levels in SOTE. In SOTE there was always an annoying invisible wall, preventing you from further exploring the environment. In Rogue Squadron , however, a much larger game play space was created along with more enemies to engage, more weapons to use and objectives to follow. The result was a very fun space shooter with a combination of arcade action and mission objectives to follow. I remember enjoying the great Star Wars locations and classic Star Wars ships in this title. While a superior Rouge Squadron game would appear as a sequel on the Gamecube, it was this first one that impacted me the most as a gamer. Sadly the developers of this great franchise have been disbanded and Lucas Arts plans for an XBOX 360 HD Rogue Squadron have been canceled. But N64 fans will always have this great Star Wars title to remember.

PatMan Picks Stampede Classics. Bret Hart vs Animal Hamaguchi

Welcome back to another trip in the Stampede time machine, were we will yet again look back at some classic old school wrestling from some of the legends of the past. This time around , young Bret Hart who is very early in his career gets involved in yet another great inter promotional wrestling match that Stampede was famous for having from time to time. This time its not against any World Champion from one of the big American federations such as the AWA, but a match against an opponent from Japan named Animal Hamaguchi. Animal also went by the name Higo Hamaguchi and was a wrestler in many of the great Japanese wrestling promotions of the time such as Japan Pro, All-Japan and New Japan Wrestling. While most people know that Stampede Wrestling was broadcasting across Canada and also into the northern United States, the show was also syndicated in many other countries across the globe, including Japan. Heck, some middle eastern nations at this time did not have any WWF or NWA wrestling at all on their T.V., yet they were watching Stampede for years. This could  help explain Bret’s ultra popularity over there. Worth noting this week is that this is actually a Japanese syndicated version of Stampede Wrestling, so its a pretty unique video to watch. Also worth noting are all the photographers at ringside. See you all next time!

Late Edition- Impact Wrestling Review- Where addicts get title shots in less than a year.

What am I saying its the wrestling business. Everyone gets second or third chances in this business just ask Jake the Snake Roberts. But that is later on in the show. We open with a Roode promo detailing his family struggles with his shady dealings that won him the title. (Obviously they must have been sleep walking during his Robert Roode run 4 years ago.)

Steve Borden (No Makeup makes him Steve) comes down to the ring to make an announcement about the “Inmates running the asylum” And how he is going to punish those who step out of line. First up is Robert Roode, or Bobby Roode who is called out after his heinous treatment of Dixie Carter. Roode comes out and him and Borden banter throwing as many puns out there that they can in ten minutes. That is until Borden calls out AJ Styles and then promptly follows it up with Jeff Hardy before telling Roode that he will be involved in a triple threat match in the main event. Roode is disgusted and so are probably half the wrestlers in the back who don’t sell the merchandise Hardy sells.

McGee Rants 1 (Not Wonderpod)

This week was supposed to be the triumphant return of Wonderpod. Our recording software and Skype said nuts to that. Which means we add another lost recording to the catalog. I felt really bad about not getting a show for you guys so, I cooked up a little something. It’s not much and may be a little over done. Hopefully it will get you by until Wonderpod returns in full force next week.
