Ranting and Raging

Good Wednesday morning to you. Brain is functioning a little better today. So will run through an actual written post. Plus the nostalgia images bombed big time. Silly bastards, just don’t know comedy gold when they see it. Plus most of the those images were the kind that only make me laugh. I tend to have a weird sense of humor anyway.

Read an article on how much some of the little things we buy cost over time. Things like coffee, or smoothies etc. It detailed how many thousands of dollars one could “waste” over a life time by buying that stuff and how to stop. I have seen articles like this before and they always annoy me. First off if people are dumb enough to keep buying fancy coffees and other things when money is tight. I have absolutely zero sympathy for them in that case. Second, how many people who can afford items like this even think about it long term? To my mind the immediate benefit of a a nice coffee is really all people care about. If it is that much of a benefit to them, then it more than offsets the cost. Plus of the large group of people I know, only one of them buys coffee everyday. I just get sick of these articles trying to terrify people about finances without a lot of information. A good rule of thumb, if you got the money enjoy life. If you don’t then, don’t be buying four dollar coffees, you lug nuts.

Same thing goes for food. Every day I bombarded with all these things that are going to kill me or are horribly unhealthy. Most of this shite is pretty much common sense. Long ago I said, do we really need a tell all movie about the dangers of eating fast food everyday? Jebas that is the definition of a no brainer. My grandmother, who only has a high school education said it best years and years ago. “eat everything in moderation and you’ll be fine” She was bloody well right then and she is right now. I love Nathans all beef hot dogs. I would eat them everyday for three meals a day if I could. Let me rephrase, if I was dumb enough to think I could get away with that. Those buggers are horribly unhealthy and so I only eat them once in a while. Same with fast food etc. I am not going to even speculate why people can’t seem to follow that simple rule. It would open up an XL sizes can or worms. Will keep the lid on that one I think.

Instead let us open another can of worms since I feel like ranting some more. Ever had to deal with the it was just a joke bastard? You know the person who say’s increasingly mean and vile things only to hide behind the phrase it was just a joke? To my mind they are the worst kind of troll possible. Look I make no bones about being an asshole at times. You piss me off and I am going to scream at you. Especially if I you go out of your way to get under my skin. I make no apologizes unless I go totally off the rails. (see WP EP 50) It wasn’t until the advent of the internet, that dealing with these smug it’s just a joke fuckers became an issue. Granted the target of these trolls has a role to play here too. Once you let it show they are bothering you, your doomed. In reality they are just another species of bully. My grandfather told me long ago, “learn to ignore them or stand up for yourself”. I recommend the ignore them route personally. Although I have a hard time with it. My instinct is to fight and keep fighting until they are beaten. The just of joke crowd seems to be inspired by that attitude. Since I can’t physically smack them, I am learning to ignore them.

Hahaha! To be honest with you, I did enjoy the Supersize Me movie… even though the message was one that should be obvious to people with common sense… or so you'd think.

I didn't really enjoy it much. Partly due to the thought "are people really this dumb" going through my head the entire time.

I like Tim Hortons coffee, screw starbucks and second cup with the over priced fancy pants coffee !

    • Bruce McGee says:

Yeah we ain't got no Hortons here you hoser 😛 Starbucks is all right, every once in a while. At least that is how i feel about it.

I think Timmy's is a little over-rated (sorry Pat). But they make a pretty decent French Onion soup for a place that has a drive-through.

Timmy's has some great soup and sandwich combos for a fast food joint, which basically is what it is. Im not a big Tims fan myself, but I would rather go there than Second Cup or Starbucks any time.
