Wonderpod Episode 61

Wonderpod is still alive and kicking. This week we see the triumphant return of PatMan. We even had a party for him before the show. We never let you guys listen to that part. Oops, I don’t think I was supposed to say that. Oh well, we got another great show for you this week. We talked about gaming as we normally attempt to do.

Debate topic: I ask the big N fans what they want from the Stream(wii2).

Suvivorman G is still hunting aliens and Wonderpods. He also made time for an interesting question.

I explain why we are not touching the Sony story with a ten foot pole. (yet)

Iwata gives us his reason for the 3DS not selling as well as Nintendo had hoped.

Modded consoles and Phishing alerts comprise our middle two news stories.

We tell you about Activision and the PR guys who defend them.

Patman, the story mode on Mortal Kombat is very, VERY cinematic experience. Frickin' 10. Also, I actually liked vs. DC Universe, but I get how its not for everybody. But you and I are right there together on the movies. #1 = GREAT, #2 = not so much.

    Good show, guys.

  2. SRD says:

Also, Bruce, Golden Shower is frickin' hilarious.

  3. SRD says:

Also, GS, the Lighsaber thing. What you said. (Sorry for the triple post. I'll stop now.)

I can't follow up on a triple post. SRD steals my thunder again! Ha ha! I endorse that triple comment, actually.

Good show, and I suppose waiting on the Sony thing is a good idea versus beating the fans over the head with it (I never minded personally, but see where you guys are coming from too). In fact, I'll take it further and note, this may be FAR from over, even by next week! You guys noted here the reality that many of these big service providers and content providers are likely victims of attacks. And obviously you aren't going to make these public if you can sweep the hackers under the rug. Bad publicity…

You've got to wonder(pod-online.com) if this event is a potential turning point for consumer confidence, at least amongst the gamer demographic. If it is programmed, it can be hacked… and like the Glaser Man says, "Hackers gonna hack." Can't help but be a wee bit paranoid…

I found my 5 times removed cousin's question and answers interesting. Some surprises here, and am glad it was a good fodder for some rants and tirades. Survivor Man G told me that he likes posing questions and analysis and stir the pot a little… Personally, I look at his question being something related to where the technology can go potentially outside recreational use. Perhaps kind of ignorant, which is part of the reason I thought it was worth a look. Sage noted all the three things he looks at already exist in some capacity in gaming already in a way (and great examples on the counterpoint by GS), but I think you guys took it home as all of you noted the barriers for it to happen. I'd bet it eventually does. Technology will find new uses in the hands of creative people who think outside the box.

Is Mortal Kombat on the Wii as well SRD?
I have just started the story mode and like it. I like how they " rebooted" it by tying it in with the ending of Mortal Kombat Armageddon, where finally Shao Kahn wins and everyone is dead ! They can now change things up in the universe, introduce characters that were not introduced until later on right at the start and do whatever they want. Somewhat like, I guess, the new Star Trek movie rebooted as well.

And it was a good idea to not talk so much about the ps3 hacker stuff THIS week, and we will, hopefully, have a big PS3 fan and user on the show next week to give his personal thoughts, so stay tuned next week !

  6. SRD says:

Its not on the Wii, but I watched the story on YouTube.

  7. Patman says:

Ah good old Youtube for the win. yeah I am almost finished the story mode on an easier difficulty and I finished the arcade with only one character so far, Raiden ,on the second easiest difficulty. haha Now to try and play it at a less pussy level which may prove much more difficult! I hope that there is a new movie with an alternate "go back in time and change things" story like this one has at some point. I always like the MK universe as cheesy as it is!
