RPG of the Year – 1994

This is another year where I’m sure PC gamers are going to be pissed with me. To be honest, I was about ready to call it when I saw the list, but there were certain PC titles I wasn’t sure about. This was a good year for console RPGs and it really shows. There were 19 games in total and keep in mind that perhaps I can’t see some of these titles’ charm because I didn’t have a PC that could play them and I did have various consoles that could.

Monday Meandering

Monday and it’s nasty outside. I saw a cat go flying by just a moment ago. Some how I went to bed in California and woke up in Kansas. I either need a new travel agent or I was kidnapped. Nasty weather means more time indoors. Which means I can focus on some internet projects, so I can live with it. The reality is, I’ll probably spend half the day watching porn and the other half reading Walking Dead comics.

One For The G Family

If you aren’t aware by now, the various G’s love zombies.  The entire G family hopes to one day be  a part of the zombie apocalypse. The of course want to be on the human team.  It is with that in mind that I share this gem of a comic. I did this back in 07 or possibly 08. It appeared on the Morphine Nation forums.  I will leave it to you to figure out the joke I was making at the time.

PatMan Plays: Mario VS Donkey Kong

Love them or hate them, Nintendo’s franchise characters are the most recognizable household names in the business. Since the classic days of the NES and those old classic 25-cent Donkey Kong arcade machines to the newest “high tech” Nintendo Wii gaming console of today, Mario and company have endured countless adventures. Many of us grew up on the fantastic new adventures of Mario and company. However, a sad thing in Mario games happened around the time of N64. The Nintendo executives, while having sushi one lunchtime, were forcefully kidnapped and replaced by Mario rehash obsessed Monkeys. And as we all know, they happily  spewed out rehashed Mario titles and spin off games such as Mario Party, and at other times, complete remakes of the classic old school 2-D Mario games, on numerous systems. Sure these titles sold well, but they were not new or “true” Mario platform titles.
Then suddenly, an all-new 2-D platform game that brought back the two icons that started it all was created on the Game Boy Advanced. Donkey Kong battle’s it out once again with Mario, this time on the GBA. With Nintendo littering their handheld machines at the time with remake after remake of classic 2-D games, it came as a very pleasant experience to get my hands on this all-new 2-D adventure back in the day. But, a question did arises for me at the time. After focusing on Mario spinoff titles and remakes, did Nintendo still have what it took to make a great 2-D platform game?

We had some movement amongst the regular top dogs this week, and some drop out… as per usual. Unlike most weeks, TNA gets a little love from the smarks involved in this IWC project. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Wonderpod Episode 51

Wonderpod episode 51 is ready for you. This episode took almost no effort at all when you compare it with episode 50. I am really happy we had no more disasters this time around. Pat was off hunting for bargains this week so Jonkind77 was nice enough to join us. We may see more from him in the future. In the present we talked about a number of things

Digital Home Yo

Another Friday and that means another Wonderpod. Well that is coming up a little later, this is my morning selfish post. Obviously most of you would rather I just post the podcast and bugger off. Yeah, that is not happening, I got stuff to say and it is more fun with victims. These posts are my continuing attempts at committing verbal assault. If a bullet can commit rape, then by god my text can cause assault.

iMPACT: 02/10/11

Are you ready for some TNA insanity? Lord knows I’m not, but I never am. Recently we saw a long built storyline around reviving the Main Event Mafia shattered by the WWE resigning both Booker T and Kevin Nash… as a result the second coming of “they” was swerved to be Fortune, plus Scott Steiner, Crimson and Kurt Angle. It’s a good thing they employ Vince Russo, eh? Alright, onto the suffering folks!

There are 21 games. This is a huge year for adventure games and if you already know about most of these, you’ll see why this was a ridiculous hard choice to make for top 3.
