PatMan Picks Free iPhone Games. Starship Troopers: Invasion “Mobile Infantry” .

Another day an other Free iOS game for you to try out! Some of you might be thinking that this is my first free pick of 2013, but you would actually be wrong about that. You see our website, WordPress and our servers all went out drinking together on new years eve and, well, things did not work out well on “hang over new years day”. Needless to say they were all ashamed of themselves after the hangover wore off. Ok, so that is not what really happened, but it is more humorous than simply saying the internet ate all our posts in the last day, so I will stick with my first story. Anyways today’s pick for FREE iOS game is Starship Troopers: Invasion “Mobile Infantry”. It is an interesting take on the ST franchise and the game play is basically a combination of 2 types. One is a cover based 3rd person shooter where you take aim from behind obstacles while shooting at those big bad bugs. After all the only good bug is a dead bug, right? The other half of Starship Troopers: Invasion “Mobile Infantry” is an endless runner. That is right, your running, and running and running some more down hallways, swiping to avoid dangers, sliding under overhanging objects and jumping over others. All the while you are collecting credits and power ups  just like any other of the countless endless runner games on iOS. I have to say it is a strange combination of game play here but it is fun enough in short bursts. Especially for, you know, the cost of NOTHING.  I think that hard core fans of the franchise may not fall in love with this game . It does have a cheesy story , not so great 3D graphics and emphasis on endless running. But, for the rest of us, here is another free title to try out for a few days until the next one comes out. Check out the screens below as always. Oh, and Happy New year! ( I could have sworn I said that already….)

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (Game Play)

We talked about this game a few times on the podcast. So when the trailer popped up on Destructoid I gave it a watch. There is nothing in this trailer that screams play our game. Then again, this is the first of many trailers I am sure. So I will withhold any concrete judgement until I see more. They have a big mountain to climb given the success of TellTales adventure series. Zombie fans will probably love it, no telling on the rest of gamerdom. Give it a watch and tell us what you think.

Smackdown 12/18/12: Live, Commercial Free, Not in Canada. Dicks.

So the WWE thought it would be funny to make me work on a Tuesday. Bastards. Ha ha ha. You happy now, Vince? Jerk. Anyways, the last time we did this Halo 4 came out and a new president was elected. Something tells me that won’t happen tonight. But what did happen TODAY was that I made an appearance on Rational Wrestling Review representing the BWF. We spoke about the awesome TLC PPV last Sunday and the Slammy themed RAW last night. Let’s see what the hell happens on Smackdown tonight. Thank you Sky TV for being streamed illegally for my viewing pleasure.

So that’s where Christian has been. Drinking beer in the woods. Now I get it.

Smackdown 12/14/12

Fucked up news week. Toronto monkey in a suit, Manny KO’d and lifeless for minutes, Bieber murder/castration plot, Syria, Egypt, Prank call gone horribly wrong… and sadly the mass shootings in an elementary school. 🙁 I’m kind of dejected to say the least (and battling a headcold from last week, still). Maybe some Smackdown can lift my spirits.

PatMan Picks Free iPhone Games. The Blocks Cometh

The Blocks Cometh has gone free on iOS. Why should I care, you ask? Well, how about because it is a fun little retro inspired game that combines classic platform and action games with the puzzle elements of Tetris. That’s why you should care. And that is an interesting combination of game play that I have personally not experienced very often. It controls very simply and pretty responsively as well, which is of course not always the case on the touch screen. Visuals are what you would expect from a game that is trying to emulate the look of the 8 bit days. Its retro, either you like that or you don’t. I love it, but that’s partially because I am an old fart that actually played games that looked this way back in the day. Anyways go download this puzzle/platformer now before it is no longer free and check out some screens below as always.

Glasenator & PatMan Play: Halo 4 Crimson Map Pack.

Yesterday the first map pack for Halo 4 was released to the public. Unfortunatly for 343i and Microsoft, to say it didn’t go smoothly would be an understatement. You see the people that pre-ordered the game, months and months ago, were unable to download the map pack with the season pass. If they did, they would be charged twice by mistake. Then, to make matters worse, the map pack glitched out on XBL marketplace resulting in thousands of people being able to download it for absolutely free of charge. This, of course, did not sit well with the season pass owners who could not even download it let alone get it for free. But really none of that matters to the folks around Wpod. As stated over and over again we just play games for the FUN of it, to hell with internet drama. So, Glasenator and PatMan got together last night via XBL and we had a pretty good time playing the Crimson Map Pack. In my opinion, its a good pack, althought the maps are pretty confusing at the get go . The Crimson Map pack may not be as great as the old Halo 2 maps of yesteryear, but they are still worth a download, especially if you can still find the glitch and get them for free. Now, check out some blurry screens of PatMan and Glasenator playing below and maybe we will see you on the virtual battlefield sometime?
