PatMan Picks Free iPhone Games. Asphalt 7

Another fun racing game has gone “free for a limited time” on iOS. This time it is a visually impressive arcade style racer by the name of Asphalt 7 Heat. If you have played the other games in this series you know exactly what to expect. While there is nothing revolutionary to play here it is still a good experience, especially if you like fast paced action arcade racers. And really, what is not to like about this game?  It is fast , its is nice looking and, of course, as of the time of this posting  it is absolutely FREE.  The only draw back I can see here is  the download file size is pretty big, so you may have clear up some memory if your full. There are a lot of cars to upgrade and, of course, for those of you that are impatient or just can’t wait for the faster cars, you can pay a few bucks and unlock them at the get go. Pussy. Anyways, check it out soon and have fun racing a few laps around the track, will ya?  Screens are below as usual.

Smackdown 12/07/12

In honor of ThatDamnCC, this entire review will consist of one giant Youtube link to the RAW is War theme song. “Dribbel” for all! Well, maybe not so much. Our resident Kiwi is as bitter as I that the NHL can’t resolve this damn fucking lockout, he’s resumed to hating on Gretzky and denying Hull’s fluke goal. But we’re not here to talk hockey, it’s hopping time or something. I have a terrible head cold. Good times.

PatMan Picks Free iPhone Games. Into The Dead.

Endless running games are a dime a dozen around the world of iOS games. And the only thing that seems to be an even more milked dry game type is, of course, games with Zombies in them. So why am I posting about “Into The Dead”, a game that actually incorporates both of these totally overused game types? Well, because it is actually pretty cool, that’s why. Oh and yeah, also because its absolutely FREE, but you probably already knew that didn’t you. This game sets itself apart from other “endless runners” by actually being in the first person perspective and also by using a 3D engine. And the game does look very cool, to be honest. The controls are simple and you can use gyroscope or touch screen so there is a choice for you picky gamers out there. Shooting is done with touch but, frankly, it is pretty difficult to actually shoot at anything with any sort of accuracy  Sure, I can HIT a Zombie now and again, but I have issues  actually taking them down. However, the main focus is not shooting Zombies but escaping from them, which is no easy task considering how many of them you encounter right fro the start. I am enjoying Into The Dead more than I thought I would.  So, check out the screens I took of the game in action, you wont regret it. Now, go download it for free before they put the price on this up to a few bucks sometime soon.

Wonderpod Episode 139

Things on this week’s Wonderpod went whacky. We debated whether aliens are really here and are they in charge. I’m kidding we talked about video games and made poop jokes. There might even been a serious moment or two. Hopefully you’ll forgive us for the quick business news. Enjoy the show

PatMan Picks Free iPhone Games. Smash Cops Heat.

Another day another FREE iOS pick from yours truly. This time I am playing a fun little racing/chasing/crashing game by the name of Smash Cops Heat. It is a very nice looking top down racing game where you drive around as a police car  taking down wanted criminals before they escape. There are also levels where you try to reach points as fast as possible with out totaling your squad car in the process. The controls, at  least at first, will take a bit of getting used to and frankly the short tutorial levels need to be a little more robust to be truly helpful. However, you will get used to the controls a few levels in and you will be chasing down  cars and crashing into stuff with relative ease. Check this one out soon as I am not sure if it will be going back up in price or if it will remain a ” freemium”  title. And by  freemium it is one of those games that have micro transactions. But so far I have been able to enjoy the title without having to worry about any of that or spending a dime. Check out the screens below as always and see you next time for more free iOS games!

La-Mulana

General Overview

Is it worth dying, dying, and dying again for a grand action/adventure of epic proportions? That’s what developer Nigoro set out to found out. A remake of the 2005 cult classic, La-Mulana is everything an oldschool action/adventure title should be down to its very core. It also helps that the music is pretty badass, too.

Audio Master G & PatMan Play: Halo 4 King Of The Hill!

Last night the one and only “G of the internet” joined up with PatMan for a few rounds of Halo 4 online fun. Here are a few “not so HD “shots of the action. We played some King Of The Hill for a change. For those of you that only play slayer and team deathmatch game- types all the time, this is a game type where your team must hold a small position or “hill” for the longest time while not letting the opposite team take it. Oh and the  “hill” moves randomly around the map. Yes, yes, don’t worry, there is of course plenty of shooting involved as well. However, working as a team is very important in this game-type as the positioning of teammates to both capture and defend the hill is important for victory. The team we were on was ” OK” , but unfortunately for G and myself , we encountered a very good opposing team with very good teamwork. As you would expect, they dominated us. It was almost fun to watch them take us apart as the game went on…almost. But  around here in “Wonderpod land”, it is all about having  FUN when playing online with friends so we didn’t worry that much. Sometimes we get spanked and then other times we do the spanking, so it is all good.  Anyways, check out some blurry shots I took below as I am starting to think 343 has given up on the once great theater mode. Have fun playing video games people and maybe we will see you online.

PatMan Picks Free iPhone Games. Retro Racing.

Depending on how old you are this FREE iOS pick might be right up your alley, or maybe more accurately, right down your racetrack. You see an old Commodore Amiga game developer, who worked on several racing titles back in the golden era of video games, is back with an all new, retro inspired , top down racer by the name of Retro Racing. And it has gone free, for a limited time. This game brings back some fond memories for me of playing really old PC games, but I think its worth a shot even for the younger iOS gamers out there. It is a nice retro looking 2D top down racer with plenty of power up icons scattered all over the track to help you make it to the finish line as fast as you can. –Pat Tip– Make sure to pick up as many tire power ups as you can when racing around the track, because the first set of cars have VERY poor traction. As a matter of fact, the poor traction combined with the not perfect touch controls make for a bit of a hard time at the get go. But, with a little patience and practice you can win some races and play on new tracks. Check out the screens I took below and download this one soon as I don’t think it will stay free for very long. See you next time for more FREE iOS picks!
