BoredWrestlingFan Radio Episode 48

McMahon Campaign

$97 million well spent?

Joe, G, JT, and Jorge are joined by Alice Radley of Radley Wrestling Talk on this week’s episode of BWF Radio.  The discussion covers the three main shows of WWE and TNA for the week.  That goes off on a slight tangent as the crew discuss possible ways to put the Attitude back in to WWE, and the ways TNA could possibly compete with the kingpin.  WrestleMania sales are discussed, as over 50,000 tickets have sold thusfar, two of which are in the hands of our fearless leader.  All the great wrestling news is here too, including the whereabouts of Kenny King, the failure of Linda McMahon’s Senate campaign, who exactly told Vince McMahon he’s out of touch with the audience, and much, much more!  Tune in to this super-sized edition of BWF Radio!

Wonderpod Episode 135

This weeks Wonderpod is awesome. I might be a bit bias in regards to the quality of the podcast. Who cares we worked on our game creation exercise again and Glasenator made awesome art. Seriously the kid is talented as hell. Just look at the banner and all over our site. He can look back when he is famous and say yeah I worked with those schmucks. Oh, video games and shite.

Five Things I’ve Learned About The Wrestling Industry, Pop Culture, and Myself By Reliving The Attitude Era on WWE 13

As it stands right now, WWE 13 is a solid contender for the crown of “Greatest Wrestling Game Ever Made,” a title that’s been firmly held by WWF No Mercy for over a decade.  The mechanics of the game are top notch, but the thing that puts this game over the top is the much-touted “Attitude Mode,” in which the player relives the Attitude Era, from August 1997 to April 1999.  And when I say “relive,” I mean it.  You experience the highs and lows of a very important time in wrestling history (and dare I say it, pop culture history) in very stunning detail.  And through this experience, I came upon a series of conclusions.  Conclusions about the wrestling industry, about pop culture, and most importantly, about myself.  I would very much like to present them to you right now, if that’s ok.

Smackdown 11/06/12

Smackdown on Tuesday? Hmm… WWE are you sure you want to do this? You want to go up against the US Presidential Election? You want to go up against the drop day release of Halo 4, one of the most anticipated video games of 2012? Will I even finish this review on Tuesday? All questions that even I don’t know the answer to. I’m not that inclined to review this after a 3 hour RAW, a show I might have not even finished watching at this point, let alone had enough time to mentally recover from to watch yet another 2 hours of professional wrestling. Let’s get this over with and hop to it, shall we?

Nah, that totally happened. It’s well documented.

Steamed! – Ys Origin

Ys Origin

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0PNLeQHlQA

Current selling price: $19.99

I’m a sucker for pretty much anything with Ys tacked onto it. Ys Origin is a prequel of sorts to the original Book of Ys. It’s pretty fun, has the new Ys engine going for it, and has a lot of really interesting concepts, but is highly repetitive. See, the idea is this is the original Tower of Darm or whatever from the original Ys and as a result it’s built to be an ever-escalating labyrinth.

Now sure, they throw in a lot of great story, puzzle, and platforming elements surrounding a tough difficulty, as is present in every Ys game since the dawn of time, but the point is there’s a lot of backtracking, necessary grinding, and a lot of the areas look the same. Sure, as you proceed up the tower, they try to lighten it up by having different themes for the levels, but…it still feels highly repetitive.

Maybe this is just a minor point that I’m blowing out of proportion. I mean games like Diablo and Torchlight do this again and again and again and I don’t seem to mind those…so maybe it’s just that I expected there to be more because this is Ys we’re talking about. More than likely that’s it. In any case, if you’re a fan of the series and/or you enjoy a good action/RPG/hack n slash romp, this is right up your alley. Screenshots follow.

BWF Interview: Jerry Lynn

The following comes to us from our good friends at Bored Wrestling Fan – G

It’s an interview everybody on the BoredWrestlingFan staff wanted to participate in, but one man actually got to do it.  This past Thursday, the great Jerry Lynn took time out of his day to speak with our own Justin Ruff about a number of topics.  He talks about getting his start in the business, working the indies with a young Sean Waltman, and reveals who came up with his WCW name, Mr. JL.  He mentions that the late Brad Armstrong was one of his favorite opponents.  He talks about ECW memories, including the fans giving him the nickname, “The New F’N Show.”  Jerry discusses his disappointing time in WWE and his knee injury, comparing it to being a human toy.  The early days of TNA are discussed, including Jerry winning the X-Division Championship early on.  Justin and Jerry get into Jerry’s recent indie career, and Jerry puts over wrestling in the state of Texas.  Plus, Jerry announces the date of his final career match!  All this, and much, much more.  Click the link below to listen!

PatMan Previews BladeSlinger, Coming Soon On iOS.

I think most first impressions after viewing screens of  BladeSlinger on iOS would be that it is “Infinity Blade with a western theme”, and to be honest that is not too far from the truth. However, after getting the chance to play the final build of the game hands on last week I can say that it does differ from Infinity Blade in enough aspects to defiantly not be called a “clone”.  But, is it as good as it looks? Are the micro transactions ( IAPs) going to put me and you totally off? Well, read on as I do a little preview of BladeSlinger right here.

Zombie Apocalypse Part 1 (LFT minecraft server)

So last night we had an zombie event on the LFT minecraft server. This video shows the first few stages of the night. I like to call it the spawn, chaos and then a plan. You’ll notice that I accidently kill Glasenator when trying to figure out how to get out of the spawn area. While I felt bad, it was kind of hilarious. What does this button do and then boom falling!! The most amazing thing to me about the night was working in the pitch dark at times. Felt like my early days in the minecraft alpha. Overall the night was fun minus a few annoying moments. You will see what annoyed me and others in part two some time next week.
