Power Poll for the Week Ending: 4/12/11

Very late results this week mean a limited edition. But there are some things to be said. Many, actually. But few pictures. Only one wrestler gets an animated gif this week. And for good reason.

1. Edge

Everyone else in the list will be ignored this week. Their rank is included below. What can I say, that hasn’t been said already? I also want to endorse three articles by fellow BWF’ers and the man from TCRLand: Justin Ruff, ThinkSoJoE, and Al Creed. They all do a great job at celebrating the career of the great performer, and why he will leave a hole in the wrestling landscape. And they each do it in their own way. Just click the names of the guys in this paragraph to check out their respective, and respectful, articles. Worth a read!

2. The Miz

3. Alberto Del Rio

4. John Cena

5. R-Truth

6. Sin Cara

7. The Rock

8. Christian

9. Sheamus

10. Sting

HEY YOU! HOCKEY FAN! NOT A HOCKEY FAN? MAYBE STILL A PHILANTHROPIST?

Two friends of mine are participating in beardathon.com, which is a fundraising project for NHL fans who follow the sports’ Stanley Cup tradition of growing out their beards for the entirety of their survival in the tournament. It represents aspects of superstition, and team sportsmanship as well. And for ThinkSoJoE and Rich Flynn of Bored Wrestling Fan, it’s about helping to give back to the community of their favorite hockey team, by also growing their own playoff beards and collect money via pledge. Both men represent the Buffalo Sabres hockey club. Here’s what they are raising money for:

The Buffalo Sabres Foundation has chosen to make its primary focus to (1) assist youth hockey initiatives, (2) support children’s health and wellness initiatives, specifically those that serve the underprivileged and handicapped, and (3) provide support to non-profit organizations that provide vital services to those in need in our community.

They are having a friendly little competition between themselves, ThinkSoJoE and Rich Flynn. They are both competing for the same charity, but against each other for fun. Regardless, ALL funds donated to either will go to the Buffalo Sabres Foundation! So everyone is a winner. Please consider donating to either (or both)!

Sad to see Edge go, however I am glad he is making the correct decision. Dynamite Kid made the decision too late which left him in a wheel chair.

Also, I have not watched any wrestling since WM. Is the Rock still making appearances on TV or at least video segments? Because I see him in the top ten, for this week.

No. He was not on RAW last week, but he was on the week prior. However, people voted for him anyways. Can't tell you why, since he technically was not eligible (at least to me) in the week. I never vote for anyone who does not appear in any capacity, and therefore is not relevant to the "week that was." I also don't think Sting deserved a nod either considering the iMPACT (two Thursdays back). The point is to submit a vote for the most significant wrestlers during the week, ending after RAW…. doesn't matter if they wrestle or not, it matters what they do.

I'm a little frustrated that the results come in so late. I always vote right after RAW on Monday when we are expected to. I may withdraw from this project if this continues, to be honest with you. We'll see over the next little while. I really like the premise of it, and have no hate on Donmega who does the footwork. But those voting are clearing dropping the ball with their results coming in way too late.

Yeah, I didn't think the Rock was around at all last week. And your right, if he is not there he should not be in the power poll for THAT WEEK. Its pretty simple and it shows that these " smarks" are actually still fanboys at heart for some of the wrestlers. But hey good for them for still being big fans of the Rock even if he was not around last week, at all.

Anyways I like all the wrestling stuff we have on wPo and I like the concept for this for sure, however if its not working out for you personally, try something new if your up for it!

We'll see how it plays out… My thought is that without commenting on why each guy is where they are in the ranking should be timely, and not after two episodes have changed the landscape. iMPACT and Smackdown, for example, had already aired brand new episodes after the ranking for the week prior had occurred. That doesn't make these easy to do, or logical. DonMega is a pretty cool guy, and I have spoken with him about this as we share the sentiment. I do endorse the project, but unless this is rectified sooner than later, it defeats the premise.
