Hey friends. If you are like me, you love yourself some Mortal Kombat action. I myself own a Wii, so I haven’t been able to participate in this year’s revival of that klassic (with a k, get it?!) experience. HOWEVER! I have seen the story mode on YouTube and it is FANTASTIC. Just from a cinematic story-telling point of view, it’s absolutely killer. The only problem I have had with it, though, is that people always include their fights in their YouTube uploads. I realize that this is part of the “Let’s Play” phenomenon, but come on. It stretches the experience from roughly two hours to almost five. Buh. Arf.
BUT! There is a solution after the jump…
I took the liberty of downloading and editing the entire story mode into three digestible episodes, one for each respective game retold. Think of this as MORTAL KOMBAT: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON or something. If you are new to Mortal Kombat, these movies will help you understand just what in the hell is going on. If you are an obnoxious die-hard like me, things like OMG CYBER SUB-ZERO AND STUFF will no doubt send you into a coma of awesomeness that you never want to wake up from. (If you can’t already tell, I really liked these movies.) …and now that all THAT is out of the way, here you go.
Mortal Kombat 1
Mortal Kombat 2
Mortal Kombat 3
P.S. Just so you know, I added all the copyright screens, Warner Bros and Netherrealm Logos and the Lost-esque title cards at the end of each episode as a way to give it a serialized television feel. Whether or not I was successful remains to be seen.
This is cool SRD. Now we can watch the story mode without watching some random guys gameplay or cuting off at the wrong time.
Wow, when you put the story into 3 parts, it really show off how long the story mode really was. i would have never guessed it would have been this long.
Dear lord! Almost 3 hours? I'll be watching this in even more segmented segments, but I WILL be watching this. Kudos to SRD for taking the time for doing this the right way. 🙂
The reason these parts are so long is because I chose to put the 4 minute end credit sequence at the end of each episode because that is where all the GNU terms of use are and I didn't feel like typing them 😛 Also, I put the final segment of the previous episodes in front of the main body of the current episode so that people can watch them independently and some the basic idea where the story left off, which is handy for people who won't watch them all in one shot. I kind of wanted them to appear as sort of episodes of a television series being watched on DVD. In the straight through version that I also created, the story only lasts about 2 hours and 10 minutes.
And thanks for the compliments 🙂 Its taken me a long time to put this together and even though it isn't my own content, I'm kinda proud that I was able to improve it slightly (if that doesn't sound too conceited 😛 )
