Welcome to a new segment here on Wonderpod-online. Im calling it simply, and very unoriginally, “videogame news”. This is where I find something interesting in the world of videogames, and quickly discuss it. Hardly an earth shattering new idea by any means, but when Patman, or any of the other crew for that matter, see something news worthy or of interest you might just see it posted here on the main page from time to time. I shall discuss some of my thoughts on the matter and who knows , some of these stories may even appear on future Wondepod episodes as well. You will just have to keep downloading the podcast and returning to the website to find out. I have 2 news stories for you all to enjoy today. One of which may amaze some gamers while the other is bound to enrage gamers.
Im starting things off with a little bit of a controversy, just to get things going . It seems that X-box 360 gamers will be enjoying the online demo for the video game Crysis 2 very soon. How soon you ask? How about Tuesday of this week ? Yeah, thats pretty soon. What makes this news a bit of a controversy is that PS3 owners are not getting the demo, and some sources including 1up are saying they may never get the demo, at all. This is pretty surprising to me as I would think that a developer would want to expose their product to as many buyers as possible, and not alienate one group of console gamers, but thats exactly what they are doing. Is there more to this than we know? Did MS pay them off for exclusivity? And is it worth it for just a demo? All I know is that if I was a PS3 owner I would be pretty pissed, but then again, if i was a PS3 owner my preferance of games would not be FPS in the first place, I suppose. Next in the news, Duke Nukem forever is officially dated for release. May 3, 2011 in North America and only a few days later for the rest of the world. Its great to see that after nearly a decade and a half of delays, new engines, new developers and multiple other nasty rumors, the game that no one actually thought could ever come out, is coming out. We talked about this on Wonderpod in the past, and I am not expecting an AAA title, its just not going to happen. But the humor looks to still be there and the babes and the one liners are getting me a little excited to be honest. So count Patman in as at least interested in playing the game in May. I really hope for old times sakes, and just to shut up people who said the game would never come out ,that the game will be great. However, considering how long its been in development ,thats probably not going to be the case. Just dont tell Duke that, or he will “rip you a new one, baby” ! Me and one of my best friends have an ongoing list consisting of what are the most manliest things in the world. Such as eating raw steak and shitting in tires…I'm pretty sure Duke is in the top 10. So yes, I'm probably going to get this, unless like you said, it's a total fail.
