V/H/S

IMG_0125

Last week I helped to promote the release of V/H/S.

V/H/S is a horror film, shot in POV (Blair Witch style). A group of misfits are hired by an unknown third party to burglarise a desolate house in the countryside and acquire a rare tape. Upon searching the house, the guys are confronted with a dead body, a hub of old televisions and an endless supply of cryptic footage, each video stranger than the last.

The film is based on these found videos, and are put together episodically. As I was watching the first scene, I wasn’t expecting much, but I was confronted with a lot of surprising, and engaging stories, with a lot of unexpected twists and turns. A nice surprise after sitting down with such low expectations.

The lovely people at Fetch Publicity sent me a copy of the film on DVD and video cassette, which is a nice touch. It’s been a while since I have had a video in my hands, and it’s quite bizarre to see the year 2013 on it. A nice bit of movie memorabilia, to show the grandkids.

V/H/S is out on DVD now in the UK, and if you are a US resident and have Netflix, then you can find it on there too.

Smackdown 02/08/13: This Card Looks “Turrible”

I’ve read the matches (non-spoiler version) ahead of time, and kill… me… now. This does not look good, people. There’s one or two on the card that look passable. But I must warn you, there will be much FFW content on this debacle. Unless you like immobile big guys that can’t really do anything in the ring. If that’s the case, enjoy! Not me, though. Ugghhh… It is hopping time… more like skipping time. Oh well, maybe they’ll make up for it with a whimsical Hornswoggle and Natalya cover of “Dueling Banjos” using flatulance instead of the five string percussive chording hybrid of an instrument? Fuck.

Hopping time, folks….

Wonderpod Episode 145

Wonderpod this week may seem a little glazed and confused. That wasn’t misspelled, just ganking crap I read on social media. We were joined by one of the original three and things pretty much spiraled out of control from there. Just wait until we actually talk about Ouya.

#Playstation2013

So I woke up this morning to an email in my inbox from Playstation. It contained very little information, and a video that leaves much to the imagination. What I do know, is that something is going down on 02. 20. 2013.

This could be potentially very exciting. It could be leading to the announcement of the long awaited Playstation 4, which is the conclusion that is rife over the pages of the interwebs. Although, don’t get your hopes up. It could be something terribly boring, like the announcement of new online services, or just a tactic to get us blindly excited over Playstation again.

Only time will tell. Maybe they are going to announce ‘Parrapa The Rapper 3’. Imagine that!

BoredWrestlingFan Radio Episode 60

This is great.

We break stuff and complain because The Rock beat CM Punk at the Royal Rumble. That’s worse than having your eye shot out, apparently. Jorge’s herpes flare up. The crew is joined by Brian Muller once again, and in a shocking twist ending, Jorge joins twitter. We talk Royal Rumble, RAW, SmackDown, Main Event, ROH, and IMPACT. We talk about the news, including Sunny’s recent SIXTH arrest, Bret Hart’s interview where he gives Triple H’s last ‘Mania match a “4 out of 10,” and of course, the man whose stolen all our hearts, James Dotterer, including a great Joe rant about how CM Punk is the real People’s Champion. Tune in!

Wonderpod Episode 144

This weeks Wonderpod goes from three guys to two. One of the crew had to pull a David Copperfield mid way through the episode. Before that we do what we do best. Muddle through, forward and possibly over a number of topics. Never know what we might get up to, better listen and find out

Smackdown 02/01/13: For the IWC That Didn’t Commit Suicide On Sunday

OH NO! THE ROYAL RUMBLE WAS PREDICTABLE!!?!? THE FUCK?!?!? IT’S ALMOST AS IF THE WWE HAS BEEN BUILDING UP STORIES FOR OVER A YEAR?!?!?!? Seriously, if you can’t accept the outcome, I have to call you out as not having watched wrestling during the Hogan/Macho Man Rock and Roll Wrestling era of the WWF. Just because the IWC is up in arms and joining in the Culture of Outrage, doesn’t mean shit to the WWE. Most of you steal their PPV’s anyways. They are trying to tell a long story, and most of you shit on them for fast-tracking their story-telling. And then you get off on whining about it being predictable? WTF? Think about how awesome The Lord of the Rings would have been if Frodo failed? OF COURSE HE TAKES THE RING TO MORDOR AND DESTROYS IT. Fuck. And many of these are the same people who complain about Vince Russo swerving the story all the time. GET OVER IT.

I enjoyed the 2013 Royal Rumble. With that rant out of the way, let’s see what the “E” serves up for Smackdown this week. Now this is generally a show you can take a massive dump on… but perhaps not tonight? Only one way to find out. Go Go Gadget Hopping Shoes!

Who gets buried… tonight?

PatMan Picks Free iPhone Games. Mutant Mudds

Another must download iOS game has gone free and this time it is a  port of a 3DS download only title by the name of Mutant Mudds. It is a cool albeit slightly slower paced, retro inspired action/platform game that is a lot fun to play. The cool thing about Mutant Mudds is the ability to move back and forth into the background and foreground of the screen.   As stated above , Mutant Mudds is a port from the 3DS and thus, of course, those cool 3D effects will be absent on iOS. But, you know what ELSE is absent from the 3DS version? A 9 dollar price tag, that’s what!  Yep, its absolutely FREE for a limited time on your iOS device. The game looks , sounds and feels like an old school title and the touch control works reasonably well. Lets face it, there just has not been a platform game on a touch screen that controls as well as one with real buttons. But in defense of Mutant Mudds, it still controls well enough to enjoy the hell out of it, so get downloading will ya!  Check out screens below and I will see you all next time on PatMan Picks FREE iPhone games.  See you all on the flip side!
